Sedgemoor District Council (SDC) has committed millions of pounds towards the Northgate site on Mount Street, aiming to deliver a seven-screen cinema, operated by Scott Cinemas, four restaurants and a ten-pin bowling alley, operated by Allstars.
Doug Bamsey, deputy chief executive of SDC, said: “It’s fantastic to see the construction progress that is being made.
"We’re on the final countdown now until the construction team at Willmott Dixon handover to our site tenants to begin fitting out the interiors.
"Anyone walking past the site can see that it’s all coming together.”
During the last few months, work to the refreshed Brewery Field has included tree planting, as well as landscaping and developing a pond and swale with Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS). This means that water passing through the pond and swale is cleaned of pollutants and sediment by new aquatic plants enabling a big increase in biodiversity and ecological value. The pond and swale is situated in front of Northgate Primary School.

The next phase of construction will see completion of brickwork, panelling and installation of glasswork forming the restaurant shop fronts. Further work on the planting scheme at the rejuvenated Brewery Field will also be taking place.
Willmott Dixon are on track to complete construction and handover to Scott Cinema, Allstars Bowling and Sport Bar and dining brands from May to July for individual unit fit-outs.
