POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was knocked unconscious when assaulted in Bridgwater earlier this month.
The incident occurred at about 3.30am on Sunday, May 1 between the car park in Market Street and Penel Orlieu.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “It was reported to police that a confrontation between two men culminated in one of them punching the other before fleeing the scene.
“Members of the public cared for the victim before paramedics arrived and took him to hospital. He sustained multiple cheek fractures and a head injury.
“The suspect was described as white, male, in his early-20s, and about 6ft.
"He had short dark brown hair, stubble, and was wearing a dark polo shirt, blue jeans, and grey Adidas trainers.
“A 23-year-old man was arrested. He has been released under investigation.”
