Six people have been injured in a multi-car crash on the A39 in Nether Stowey.
Firefighters from Taunton and Bridgwater were called to the scene of the collision earlier today.
The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident and has now reopened.
A spokesman from Taunton fire stations aid: "Two fire engines from Bridgwater, one fire engine and the heavy rescue tender from Taunton attended the incident alongside an officer.
"On arrival crews confirmed a multi-vehicle road traffic collision with five persons walking wounded and one person physically trapped in a vehicle.
"Crews immediately got to work to extricate the trapped female and attended to the casualties whilst they awaited the South Western Ambulance Service Trust.
"SWAST helicopter is now in attendance."
