A BRIDGWATER man has been fined for driving at 76mph on a stretch of the A38 in Somerset with a 50mph speed limit.
Peter Thomas Grave, of Carnation Drive, was caught speeding on the A-road near Thurloxton (between Taunton and North Petherton) in a Volkswagen on December 10, 2021.
Grave, 21, admitted the offence under the single justice procedure on Tuesday, June 21.
The procedure allows people charged with minor offences to have their cases decided by a single magistrate based on papers alone without going to court.
Grave was fined £368 by a magistrate in Bath and ordered to pay £90 in court costs and a £36 surcharge to fund victim services.
He has until August 9 to pay his £494 court bill.
Grave was also handed six penalty points.
Court documents say his guilty plea was considered when he was sentenced.
