THE M5 southbound after Junction 23 was closed after a fuel spillage and two-vehicle incident earlier this afternoon (July 16).
The latest update from Travel Somerset reads: "M5 is now clearing nicely - southbound J23-24 following earlier incident."
Between Junction 23 and 24 all lanes were closed and traffic was at a stand still for some time.
Traffic was eventually released via lane one, but a long delay ensued.
Travel Somerset said at the time: "M5 remains closed southbound between J23 and J24 - traffic is queued.
"We don't have a confirmed time of reopening just yet - please plan ahead."
Over 500 metres of fuel spillage has been reported after the incident.
There was a diversion in place from the exit at J23 and join Dunball Roundabout. Follow A38 Bristol Road - rejoin the M5 at J24.
