A FAMILY-RUN Bridgwater company has celebrated its 50th anniversary with help from the town's mayor.
Jasun Envirocare is an air filter manufacturing and services company established in 1972 that expanded into Bridgwater in 1987.
It now has four major sites in the town - including its Parrett Way headquarters - and employs more than 200 people.
In 1999, Jasun launched its website and became the first air filters company in the world to offer its range of products online.
The company's team celebrated its 50th anniversary on Friday, July 29.
Colin Hitch, Jasun Envirocare's managing director, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be celebrating 50 years in business and were honoured to welcome the mayor of Bridgwater, councillor Liz Leavy, as our VIP for the day.
“She was able to meet our founder, Mrs Barbara Foot, and have a guided tour of our production facility, as well as join us for lunch and to have a slice of celebration cake with our staff and directors.”
He added: “It’s a fantastic achievement to have successfully completed five decades in business.
“In that time, we’ve expanded worldwide and have significant operations in Europe too.
“We’re going from strength to strength and have lots more to come in the future, with exciting times ahead to look forward to as well.”
Cllr Liz Leavy said: “Congratulations to Jasun Envirocare on celebrating its 50th anniversary.
“I have been very impressed by what I have seen and enjoyed hearing more about the company, its products, its staff and its plans for the future.
“Bridgwater is fortunate to have such a major company based here. I wish them all the best for the future.”
The name ‘Jasun’ came from the founder's daughter's names, Jane and Susan.
A third generation of family members are now involved in the company.
“We have grown to be one of the UK’s leading air filter manufacturers, priding ourselves on our family values,” said Colin.
