NORTH Petherton Flower Show returned after two years with its 117th edition last weekend.
The event took place on Saturday, August 13 at the Community Centre featuring lots of flower, plant, and craft categories. All children’s categories were free to enter.
A message from a spokesperson said: “Thank you to all of you who attended and took part in the North Petherton Flower and Craft Show.
“After two years with no show and the very hot weather entries for flowers and vegetables were understandably down however the number of entries we received for all other divisions meant we were still able to hold the show.
“We still had concerns yesterday that no one would be there for the afternoon as the temperatures were so high, but all was okay as large numbers of you turned out in support.
“We are hugely grateful to Damian for opening the show, to all of the judges for taking the time to come and judge, the volunteers from the library who unaided ran the tea rooms for us, all of the volunteers who helped with setup, assisted on the day and tidied up after the show.
“We also want to thank all of the local businesses and individuals who donated the wide range of raffle prizes.
“We are so impressed with the quality of all of the entries, please do visit our website to see some more images of what was on display.
“We were also pleased at the number of people telling us they would enter next year for the first time.
“This was our 117th show and we would love to be able to keep it going for years to come so if you have any ideas for categories for next year, please do let us know.
“Finally, we would like to thank those who continue to support us year on year, we were talking yesterday to Bryan and Valerie Lancastle and they first entered in 1963 and have only missed the last two years when there has not been a show.
“To have their support over the last 59 years is amazing.”
We know there are also a number of other supporters with a similar story and our thanks go to you all for the ongoing support.
