SEDGEMOOR District Council (SDC) and Somerset West and Taunton (SWT) Council have produced a joint strategy to reverse the deterioration of habitats and biodiversity across the two districts.
The Ecological Emergency Vision and Action Plan (EEVAP), sets out the Councils' ambitions to deliver ecological enhancement and protection through a framework of key actions and projects.
The project was jointly approved this week.
The actions within the EEVAP have been categorised into four main themes:
- Efforts undertaken by the Councils directly through operational work, decision and policy making;
- Enabling others to take action for wildlife through funding and other mechanisms;
- Supporting and working with others to drive change such as awareness raising activities for residents;
- Lobbying Central Government for policies that enhance and protect wildlife.
The Vision and Action Plan documents can be viewed by visiting either SWT's Ecological emergency vision and action plan or SDC's Ecological Emergency webpages.
