BRIDGWATER Town Council has conveyed its deepest sympathy to the Royal Family on behalf of its residents following the sad news of the Queen's death.
The mayor of Bridgwater, councillor Liz Leavy, published a statement on the council's website on Thursday, September 8.
She said: “It is with great sadness we learnt of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our longest-reigning monarch.
“For all but a few of us she was the only sovereign we have ever known and will be greatly missed.
“On behalf of the people of Bridgwater, I would like to convey our deepest sympathy to the Royal family at this sad time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
“There is an official online book of condolence, and there will also be a book of condolence at Bridgwater House.
“Flowers of condolence may be laid in King Square.
“Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for further information over the course of the period of mourning.”
A special commemorative service for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be held at St Mary's Church in Bridgwater on Sunday, September 18.
The service will begin at 5pm and remember the Queen's life on the eve of her funeral.
