A NEW barber shop is set to open in North Petherton, owned by a woman who grew up in the town and has moved back with her family.
Terrie’s Barbershop will open its doors on Monday, October 3 and is already taking pre-bookings.
Its owner, Terrie Riddle, previously owned Barber Jacks in Burnham-on-Sea, which she sold to enable her to move back to North Petherton.
Terrie ran Barber Jacks for around 10 years and has 17 years’ experience in the industry.
She told the Bridgwater Mercury: “It’s very exciting. I lived in North Petherton all my life from being a child. Then we moved to Bridgwater, and I realised how much I missed the town.
“We wanted to move back to North Petherton. Then I thought, ‘Why don’t I move my business there as well?’
“There are two hair salons there at the moment, but the men have got nothing. Some people, especially the older gentlemen, don’t want to drive into town and park up just to have a haircut.
“I had a barbers in Burnham-on-Sea for 10 years, which went really well.”
The new signage was installed at the shop on Thursday, September 22, and it is “ready to go” on the inside.
Terrie said she has already seen some familiar faces from her time living in the town while decorating and getting the shop ready.
“It feels like I’m coming home,” she said.
“It’s been really nice – I’ve seen a lot of old faces. Now my son will be going to the same school I used to go to.”
Terrie’s Barbershop is located at 54 Fore Street, North Petherton. The traditional barber shop will serve people of all ages in the town and its surrounding area.
Its services will include Late Night Thursdays, which will see the shop open between 4.30pm and 8.30pm to accommodate people who usually struggle to make weekday appointments.
