The Toolstation Western League is partnering with Mind in Somerset to support the mental wellbeing of the football family and players in particular.
Bridgwater United will kick off the latest leg of the league’s partnership with the mental health charity that started in Bath and North East Somerset. The Robins have been offered specially-created posters, promoting mental health support services designed to help younger people, which can be located in the home and away changing rooms.
Research conducted by the Toolstation Western League last season highlighted that around a quarter of players had considered seeking help with a mental health issue.
Chairman of the league, John Pool, said: “Our partnership with Bath Mind raised awareness of this important issues and we were able to raise £1,200 for the charity to support their work.
"I’m very proud that we will be rolling this important initiative out to clubs, not just across Somerset, but the whole of the South West of England.”
As well as changing room posters, Mind in Somerset have provided leaflets for fans, as well as programme adverts, highlighting the variety of support services they provide. The Toolstation Western League, along with representatives of Mind in Somerset will be attending Bridgwater United’s home game with Saltash United on September 27, where a bucket collection will be held to support the charities important work across the county.
Further bucket collections are planned at Western League Clubs across Somerset, as well as clubs in Devon, Wiltshire and Cornwall.
