DEVELOPMENT land specialists Greenslade Taylor Hunt are expecting a flurry of interest in an adaptable site close to the centre of Bridgwater.

Chubb’s Cottage, in Liberty Place, comprises a refurbished two-bedroom property, plus outbuildings, parking and gardens, along with a residential development site with detailed planning permission for up to three homes and associated infrastructure.

In May 2022 Sedgemoor District Council granted detailed planning permission for the demolition of the existing outbuildings and the erection of three open market homes – a three-bedroom dormer bungalow and two three-bed link detached houses.

The permission is subject to 10 conditions. Chubb’s Cottage, which dates back to around 1860, will remain in situ. It has been the subject of extensive renovations in the past three years and now combines modern comforts along with period appeal.

The property is in a “tucked away” position, but is within walking distance of the town centre, which has seen plenty of investment in recent years. The newly opened £16million Northgate Yard development in the heart of the town is expected to become a pivotal leisure hub. It features a seven screen independent cinema and will be home to a host of entertainment and restaurant venues.

The Chubb’s Cottage site is available as a whole at offers in excess of £500,000 or in two lots – lot one the cottage for offers over £275,000 and lot two the residential development site for offers in excess of £225,000.

All offers are on an unconditional basis and must be submitted by 12 noon on Friday, November 25.

A series of viewings are being held on Wednesdays, October 19, 26, November 2, 9, and 16, between 9am and 11am.
