A BRIDGWATER woman dropped five dress sizes through Slimming World and is now trying to help others do the same.
Lisa Hurley said Slimming World 'changed her life' and now looks forward to helping others change theirs.
She said: "I have always been big and struggled with my weight, although I stayed relatively active my knee had always taken the strain because of a previous injury.
"I found myself on and off crutches for around three years, and my weight started to creep up, I was fed up and unable to buy clothes in shops that fitted, at this point the hospital suggested more physio for my knee and asked what I wanted to achieve from the physio. I laughed and said to be able to play golf and fit into clothes again!"
From that point on she was determined and searched for her nearest Slimming World Group.
"I was feeling apprehensive and not knowing what an earth I was walking into I went, feeling sick all the way there.
"But there was no need to worry from the moment I got there everyone was so welcoming and supportive."
The food is one aspect of the Slimming World journey that surprised Lisa.
"From the very first week I was amazed at the variety of food that you can eat.
"I'm not a salad person but that wasn't a problem burger and chips, roast dinners, curry and my favourite spaghetti Bolognese were all still regulars. I couldn't believe the variety and all the free foods I could eat."
After 18 months on Slimming World, Lisa has lost 2stone 10lbs but also dropped five dress sizes.
"I have now started playing golf again and not only can I walk the dog, I completed a virtual Lands End to Jon O Groats walk.
"I am so pleased that I walked into a Slimming World group 18 months ago, it has changed my life and now I look forward to helping others change theirs.
"My Slimming World groups are at The Green, Wembdon at 9.30am, 5pm and 6.30pm.
Call me on 07813 782313 or just pop in."
