STAFF and children at Woolavington Village Primary School are celebrating after receiving a glowing Ofsted report, with inspectors judging the school ‘good’ in all categories.
The school was previously judged as ‘requires improvement’, but has made significant improvements to standards under the leadership of headteacher Georgina Maclennan.
The report praises the school’s 152 pupils, who are recognised as "embodying the school’s vision of learning, believing, achieving", as well as being "polite and well mannered".
The inspectors considered the quality of education the school provides to be a real strength, stating that "teaching is consistently strong and this supports pupils to learn" and "children in the early years get off to a flying start".
The impact of the school leaders is highlighted for providing "pertinent professional development for staff", as well as being "considerate of workload and well-being"£.
Miss Maclennan said: “After just over four years as headteacher, I am over the moon that we finally have the Ofsted good judgement that this school so deserves.
"I am incredibly proud of the children and staff here at our school.
‘The children are so enthusiastic about their learning and represent our school with such pride.
“I am so grateful to have such a dedicated staff team here at Woolavington who put the children’s best interests at the heart of everything they do.
“A huge thank you to all our parents who have supported us on this journey and continue to make our school community such a special one.
"Thank you also to our local governing body and members of the Clevedon Learning Trust who have also worked incredibly hard alongside us as a school to support and challenge us, ensuring we secured this judgement.”
Woolavington Village Primary School is part of the Clevedon Learning Trust, a multi-academy trust with schools in the Somerset and North Somerset regions.
