A BRIDGWATER church group will host teaching and seminar sessions exploring the relevance of the Bible in today's world next weekend.
Living Light Christian Church, which meets at the Hamp Estate on Sunday mornings, is hosting the sessions between Friday, November 11 and Sunday, November 13.
The convention will feature guest speakers from local churches and beyond as they explore how the Bible should be read and understood in the 21st century.
A Living Light spokesperson said: “The Bridgwater Convention is a weekend of teaching and seminars exploring how the Bible fits with today’s busy life.
“God has spoken to us clearly about the importance of teaching His Word, and people coming to Bridgwater for sound Bible teaching.
“Although Bridgwater may seem an unlikely or inappropriate place for this to happen, there is something of a parallel with the Keswick Convention which has drawn people to a village in the Lake District for Bible Teaching since the 1800s - also an unlikely place for such a gathering.
“We are putting on this weekend in Bridgwater as a step of faith in direct response to God’s leading, and trust Him to bring fruit from it.”
The first two sessions will be held at the Canalside Conference Centre (Marsh Lane).
One will be held on Friday, November 11 (7pm to 9pm), and the next will be held on Saturday (10am to 8pm).
People can attend both sessions for £20, with lunch on Saturday an optional extra for £5.
A third session will be held at the Hamp Academy on Sunday between 10.30am and 12.30pm. This event will be free to attend.
