A NETHER Stowey author has launched a new book about his experience travelling the length of the Camino de Santiago pilgrim route.
Ian Pearson's book, My Poor Plates of Meat - Eating and Drinking my Way Along the Camino de Santiago, was published at The Thomas Poole Library last week.
He walked the 900-kilometre route, which stretches from Saint Pied de Port in France across northern Spain to Cape Finisterre, in 2018.
The book's website says: “900 kilometres, 53 days, 300 meals, 160 litres of beer, 340 glasses of wine and 15 bottles of brandy – the Camino de Santiago is a challenge on so many levels.
“Some walk it for religious reasons, others seek spiritual enlightenment. Ian and Lynne had other ideas.
“From communal pasta meals and euro plonk wine served from plastic bags to asparagus foams, roasted milk-fed lamb and the finest Rioja, the Camino Frances in northern Spain offers such a diversity of culinary tastes and experiences.
“Join this intrepid couple on a journey of exploration, blisters and occasional gluttony and drunkenness.”
My Poor Plates of Meat is Ian's second book.
His debut, The Coleridge Way Companion Guide, accompanies hikers from Nether Stowey along a 51-mile trail across the Quantocks and Exmoor to Lynmouth in Devon.
The new book is available to order online for £12.75. Alternatively, a Kindle version can be bought for £7.99.
