BRIDGWATER Cricket Club have announced the signing of Otago Volts quick Jarrod McKay for their 2023 West of England Premier League campaign.
Standing a towering 6 foot, 5 inches, McKay is both a skillful and menacing quick who produces extra bounce and generates pace up to 140kph.
The New Zealander broke into first-class cricket in 2019, initially for Central Districts, before moving to the deep south where he earned a contract in 2020.
Since then, the bowler has played 8 first-class and 3 List A matches, where he boasts 18 wickets, including best figures of 4/11 in red ball cricket.
He represented his province (Nelson) and State (Central Districts) through the age groups, before breaking into the Stags senior outfit in 2019/20.
A year later and he was not only with the Volts but played several matches for the New Zealand XI against the touring Pakistanis (Jan 2021), and Bangladeshis (Dec 2021).
The right-arm quick has made quite the impact in domestic cricket to date and is a player that comes highly recommended by numerous sources in New Zealand cricket.
McKay is a highly driven cricketer who aspires to become a key figure for the Volts this summer and push for Blackcaps honours in future.
Following his 2022/23 domestic season, McKay will embark on his maiden UK stint having signed with Bridgwater for their 2023 West of England Premier League campaign.
