A PRIMARY school in Bridgwater joined the carnival celebrations earlier this month.
St John and St Francis Church School celebrated carnival in true style on November 5.
The playground was full of parents awaiting the start of the parade and entertainment that the children had been busy preparing as part of their local personalised curriculum.
The procession featured masks and poems and many other activities.
A spokesperson for the school said: “It saw a wonderful procession of masks, poems, headdresses, carnival shakers not to mention amazing dancing.
“The end of the procession saw wonderful drumming from Year 5 and Samba from Year 6.
“We also held a Carnival mask competition, and the winning masks are now displayed as part of the town's carnival trail. We were so proud, they looked amazing and were on the theme of ‘Jubilation’.”
