BRIDGWATER & District Canine Society will host its Spring Open Dog Show at Junction24, Bridgwater, on March 26.

This annual event, much like Crufts, is where dogs and handlers come and show their skills in front of various judges in classes to compete for Best in Show.

A spokesperson from Bridgwater & District Canine Society said: "I would like to invite anyone to come along and support the show.

"We are expecting around 600 dogs this year, including multiple UK Champions."

The society will welcome Lois Wilson who will be judging their Best In Show class.

Lois has judged all round the world including in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Canada, Brazil, USA, and the Philippines.

Paper schedules available at all local shows including Torquay, Plymouth, Totnes, Yeovil, Taunton, Newton Abbot & South Devon.

Online entries close on March 5.

Anyone with a purebred Kennel Club-registered dog can enter. People who are new to dog showing are encouraged to get involved.

The society has organised dog showing ringcraft training nights, which are held every Thursday at St Francis of Assisi Church Hall in Saxon Green from 8pm to 9pm, costing £2.00 per dog.

A society spokesperson said: "We would also like to invite any local businesses that wish to support this event, in anyway they can.
