Flats proposed in office space above Bridgwater Paddy Power store

The application relates to the first, second and third floors of 11A Cornhill, which houses a Paddy Power store on the ground floor. 

The planning statement says: “The building is currently used as a betting shop on the ground floor and offices on first to third floors. This is a grade two listed building.

“The site is predominantly surrounded by buildings of historic value, with shops below and offices/residential above.

“The access to the site will unchanged via the High Street or a private access road to the rear.

“There are parking spaces for two cars at the rear that are existing. The revised side elevation and choice of materials will be sympathetic and matching as able to the existing age if the building.”

If the plans are approved, windows would be installed on the “left rear side elevation” and there would be “minimal changes to main staircase at first floor and second floor initial landings”.

The fire escape would be replaced, and an internal rear staircase would be removed to “reinstate rooms back to former sizes”. The building's historic features would be maintained.

The application (08/22/00213) was registered on Sedgemoor District Council's planning portal on February 10. Comments are welcome until March 14.
