NANDO’S has confirmed it will open its Bridgwater restaurant at the end of the month after signage appeared at the company's Northgate Yard unit.
The South African-Portuguese-inspired chicken chain will be located opposite Scott Cinemas, which opened in October at the town's entertainment hub.
Nando’s signs have now been installed at the site along with window signs that say: “A new home for PERi-PERi, opening soon.”
Now, the chain has confirmed it will welcome its first customers this month.
A spokesperson for Nando’s said: “We’re excited to announce that we will be opening a new restaurant in Bridgwater at the end of June. Stay tuned for more PERi-PERi updates!”
The chain's menu offers butterfly chicken, thighs, wings, burgers, wraps, pittas, salads and platters.
It also has vegetarian and vegan options such as its great imitator wrap, beanie burger and grilled mushroom and halloumi pitta.
In February, Northgate Yard confirmed that a local independent business, La Kasia Tapas & Cocktail, will also take a unit at the venue.
The La Kasia signage will be put in place this summer.
The tapas and cocktails business is owned by Erdal Sahin, who also runs The Wild Rocket and the Green Olive restaurants in Bridgwater.
Mr Sahin says he is “really excited for people to try our Mediterranean tapas in Northgate Yard, along with the cocktails!”.
La Kasia will have enough tables for around 75 people indoors, plus space for another 30 people outdoors when there is good weather.
Allstars Sports Bowl is the latest addition to Northgate Yard, opening its eight bowling lanes to the public in March.
When it opened, managing director Pete Wallington said: “We’ve got activities and packages to suit all kinds of groups and our stylish industrial decor and mouth-watering food menu will bring the bowling experience into the 21st century.
“We hope Bridgwater locals and visitors alike, find as much joy in the alley as we have had in building it for you.”
