A BRIDGWATER charity, Light of Leighton, celebrated its first anniversary by hosting a fundraiser at Bar Brunel on Saturday, June 17.
The event was a huge success, with live music by The Mystic Bards of Solitude, delicious afternoon tea provided by Sian’s Sweet Treats, a photobooth by Crazy Faces Photo Booths and a raffle of prizes that were generously donated by local businesses.
The event raised a fantastic total of £1,273, which will go towards supporting the charity's mission to provide mental health and wellbeing support to those in the local community affected by child-loss.
The Light of Leighton Charity was founded in 2022 by Amber Roberts, in memory of her son Leighton, who was stillborn on June 8 2022.
The ordeal inspired her to set up the charity after she discovered there was a lack of support in the area for siblings and families affected by child loss.
Since then, the charity has worked hard to provide a range of services, such as providing local hospitals with age-appropriate resources, books, and gifts to be taken home, plus training and wellness workshops.
The success of the fundraiser would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the event organisers and volunteers.
Amber and the rest of The Light of Leighton Charity would like to thank everyone involved in making the event such a success, from the musicians and bakers to the raffle prize donors and everyone who attended and supported the cause.
As the charity moves into its second year, they continue to work towards the goal of creating a supportive community where mental health and well-being of all family members affected by stillbirth are prioritised.
