Broadway & Horton CC 169 / All out (38.5) lost to Middlezoy CC 170 / 5 (34.1)
MIDDLEZOY Cricket Club picked up a five-wicket win at the weekend over Broadway & Horton CC.
The result sees Middlezoy move to eighth place in Division Two of the Somerset Cricket Leagues.
After winning the toss, Broadway elected to bat first and went on to set the target of 169 when they were all out in the 39th over.
Matt Derham scored 65 runs off 72 balls to top score for the home side but the wickets fell rather cheaply around him.
Taylor Flitton was the best bowler for Middlezoy with four wickets for 29 runs off 6.5 overs.
In reply, Middlezoy got off to a strong start as opener Grant Purchase scored 62 runs.
Ben Warren (34 not out) and Oli White (23 not out) were strong towards the end and knocked in the winning runs in the 35th over.
Up next for Middlezoy is a home match against Huntspill & District CC on Saturday.
