BRIDGWATER Half Marathon returns this Sunday, seeing thousands of runners lace up their trainers in search of an elusive PB, or to raise money for charity.

The annual event is in aid of Cancer Research UK, and encourages runners of all levels to get involved.

For those not wanting to commit to a 13.1 mile half-marathon, there is a 10km race option, and also a 5k fun run for less experienced runners and children.

Competitors and spectators will gather at Morganians Rugby Club on September 3 to prepare for the day's activities.

Competing in the event is a big deal, but as a spectator, things can be equally, if not more stressful.

Friends and families of competitors are often left wondering where to park, what time to arrive, and many more questions.

Whichever you are, here is everything you need to know ahead of Bridgwater Half Marathon 2023.

Routes

According to letsdothis.com, the route for the half marathon remains the same as always: relatively flat with only a few subtle hills.

The 10km race follows the same route until the junction with Stawell Road, where it turns around and back towards the starting point at Morganian’s Rugby Club.

The half marathon and the 10km will both feature official chip timing.

For the 5km fun run, competitors will set off from the rugby club and turn left towards Chedzoy, eventually leading to a small loop to follow in the town, before returning to the start.

Roads will be open during all routes, but competitors are assured any delays will be of only a short duration.

Race Times

Competitors are advised to arrive at the rugby club at least 45 minutes before their start time to register and collect their race packs. Registration opens at 9am.

At 11am, the half marathon will begin, and all competitors will have four and a half hours to complete the course before the cut-off time of 3:30pm.

The 10km race kicks off half an hour later at 11:30am.

Fifteen minutes after that, the 5km fun race participants will set off on their separate route at 11:45am.

Parking

The Morganians Rugby Club ground has a large car park equipped with stewards to assist competitors and families in finding a space.

It can be easily accessed by all, whether from the M5 or from within Bridgwater itself.
