A HEALTH and beauty spa in Bridgwater has been named as Somerset's best beauty salon at the English Business Awards.
ALAK Health Beauty Spa can be found on George Street, and offers a range of luxurious treatments.
The spa was nominated for the category of Somerset's best beauty salon, and an influx of public votes from their loyal client base secured them the title at the awards ceremony in Bristol on September 24.
Kala Hale, managing director at ALAK explained how she never envisioned her spa would win the award.
“It was lovely, it was wonderful,” she exclaimed.
“It was really nice to be recognised - just such a shock!”
She also expressed her gratitude to those who put a comment in alongside their vote - many of whom said the spa had helped them through hard times.
ALAK Health Beauty Spa has been serving Bridgwater for six years, and has built up a client base of over 10,000 people from all around.
Kala thanked the spa's loyal clients for helping them to win the award, which now qualifies them for a chance to win England's best spa at the national awards this November (votes can be placed on the English Business Awards website).
"Thank you for the past six years and for believing in us," she said.
She also expressed her appreciation for employees at ALAK, stating: "We couldn't do it without them."
Made up of thirteen passionate workers from all across Somerset, ALAK endeavours to deliver a personal "one on one" experience to all customers, something which Kala believes sets them apart from other spas in the county.
Just some of the lavish self-care treatments and facilities on offer at the spa include a sauna, steam room, relaxation room, facials and machine facials, nail treatments, beauty treatments, and a bar.
In August this year, the spa announced they would begin offering free treatments designed for people suffering with cancer.
The ALAK Give program is not-for-profit, and works by picking one winner from a monthly draw in which friends and family can nominate a loved one who they think is deserving of a much needed self-care day.
ALAK work with GAIA to create the affinity experience package, which includes semi permanent makeup, and eventually hopes to offer areola creation for those affected by breast cancer.
Friends and family of those picked for the monthly draw can come along and benefit from 20% off regular prices.
