A MAN from North Petherton has been banned from getting behind the wheel for over a year after he was caught drink-driving.
Simon Leonard, 42, of Toulouse Road, committed the offence in a white Vauxhall on Friarn Street in Bridgwater on Monday, May 1.
When breathalysed, he measured 68 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35.
Leonard admitted the offence at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Thursday, November 9.
He has been disqualified from driving for 17 months, but this could be reduced by 129 days if he completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course by September 28, 2024.
He has also been fined £120 and told to pay £85 in court costs and a £48 victim surcharge.
Leonard will pay his £253 court bill in monthly instalments of £20, starting on December 7.
Court documents say his guilty plea was taken into account when he was sentenced.
