A WOMAN was taken to hospital after fire broke out in a house in Puriton.
The detached property was badly damaged in the blaze at Puriton Hill.
Fire crews were called to the incident at around 9pm on Wednesday (November 15).
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the building had been evacuated by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.
The woman was taken to hospital suffering from cold and smoke inhalation.
Fire crews stayed at the scene damping down into the following day (Thursday, November 16).
The fire and rescue service spokesperson said the house was 80 per cent fire damaged and 100 per cent smoke damaged.
