ONE of the busiest routes through Bridgwater town centre has been closed in the evenings over the past couple of weeks to allow for essential resurfacing works to go ahead.
Both Mount Street and Northgate have been closing from 6:30pm until 11:30pm on weekdays since Monday November 13.
Travel Somerset have shared a picture of the progress being made during the overnight repair works.
The works are scheduled to finish on Friday November 24.
Access for residents and businesses in the immediate area will be accommodated throughout although some delays are to be expected until the work is complete.
Councillor Mike Rigby, Somerset Council’s Executive Lead Member for Transport and Digital said: “We know this is a busy road, so we hope that doing this important work outside of peak hours will reduce the disruptive impact a closure can have – but please ensure you plan ahead.”
A spokesperson for Travel Somerset said: "Good progress being made on our Mount Street scheme in Bridgwater."
