BRIDGWATER'S MP has urged for the public to have their say in the regeneration of Bridgwater Docks.

£5.2 million of the £23.2 million from the Bridgwater Town Deal has been put aside to bring the docks back to and above their former glory.

Businesses and communities are being invited to give their input into proposals to restore and regenerate the historic docks as part of the government’s Levelling Up programme to transform the town centre.

The first of a series of free public consultations takes place on Wednesday (December 13) at Bridgwater Sea Cadets Hall, in Seaward Drive, from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

Ian Liddell-Grainger MP says local people should make every effort to attend the consultation sessions so the planners can gather as many local views as possible on the scheme.

Mr Liddell-Grainger said the allocated money offers the opportunity to create a spectacular water-themed asset on the edge of the town.

“Given the importance of this project, we need to have input from as many local people as possible,” he said.

“And given that spirit of entrepreneurship with which Bridgwater has always been hallmarked I am confident that the planners will be provided with some very exciting and innovative suggestions to work with.”
