IT'S been six years since fire services were called to an airfield near Bridgwater to rescue a stranded puppy.
Crews were called to the incident after the dog's owner called the fire and rescue service at around 10:30am on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
The beloved family pet had become stuck in a drainage ditch, which had filled with water, at the now disused Westonzoyland Airfield, in Burdenham Drove.
Two fire engines from Bridgwater, a special rescue team from Exmouth and an officer were all mobilised to the scene, where the puppy was up to its waist in water.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Bridgwater donned crew savers - life jackets - and climbed down into the rhyne using a triple extension ladder to rescue the puppy.
"The puppy was rescued by two crew members and left in the care of the owner, uninjured."
