BRIDGWATER Operatic Society (BOS) is set to unveil its new president at its AGM being held tonight (Monday, December 11) at its headquarters in All Saints Terrace.

Mike Dodden takes on the role following the death of the previous incumbent, Tony Pomroy, in October.

Mike and his wife Kim are well known locally as staunch supporters of so many facets of Bridgwater life over several decades.

They have been active on carnival committees, pantomime societies, numerous charities and the operatic society, where they are both very active behind the scenes, supporting fundraisers, stewarding front of house activities and providing refreshments during rehearsals and shows.

BOS chairman, Mark Peters said: “I am delighted to able to welcome Mike as our new president.

"He encompasses so much of what is good about Bridgwater and will be a tremendous asset to our society with his good nature and cheerful demeanour.

"His leadership and support will undoubtedly take us forward with a flourish, and I very much look forward to working alongside him in the coming months."

The next production by BOS will be ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ in May 2024, with rehearsals starting shortly at the society’s HQ.
