THE first instalment of a monthly market to showcase local makers and traders will kick off in North Petherton this Sunday , January 21.

The Produce and Makers Market will set up in the North Petherton Community Centre on Sunday, January 21 from 12pm until 4pm.

Sunday's market will be the first of many to come to the town on the third Sunday of every month.

Founder Sam Chaplin says the new market will showcase local artisans and tasty produce from a 'wonderful' corner of Somerset. 

She explained that she's seen many towns and villages in Somerset benefit from showcasing the talents of their local independent businesses.

"We need to support local traders, artisans, who tell the story of our place, here in and around North Petherton, which is rich in history and heritage," Sam said.

“We have a strong sense of community in North Petherton and while we have the challenges of the cost of living, we need to connect local people with the makers and traders who need our support.

“We have a growing number of enthusiastic, small independent stallholders and we expect this to grow”.
