TWO branches of Nationwide in both Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea could be set to receive some exterior upgrades, including new illuminated signs.

Plans submitted to Somerset Council by Nationwide Building Society look to modernise the two Sedgemoor branches.

In Bridgwater, it is proposed that a new 5cm illuminated sign would be installed, as well as a larger blue fascia 29cm illuminated sign.

Other plans for the Bridgwater branch include replacing signage, new trims for the ATM machine, replacing the current 'Building Society' window message with 'A good way to bank.', and new grey film on the windows.

Public consultation on this application is now open, and comments can be made by searching the reference number 08/23/00376 on the Somerset Council website.

Comments are welcome until Friday, February 2, and approval could be given from Saturday, February 3.

In Burnham-on-Sea, plans are more extensive, with several huge illuminated signs planned to be installed.

Plans include a new 80cm by 689cm illuminated sign on the front of the store, and another on the back spanning 75cm x 345cm.

In addition, a further 'illuminated projecting advertisement sign' spanning 50cm by 50cm could be installed, as well as an illuminated ATM sign, along with new frosted window vinyls and replacement statutory signage.

Comments are welcome until Friday, February 16, and approval could be given from Saturday, February 17.
