A POST office in Cheddar is set to remain open despite the sale of the building it resides in.
The 'charming period property' was sold by Christie & Co after its former owner retired.
The building is occupied by Cheddar Post Office as well as a solicitors firm, and was sold as an ongoing investment, but both businesses will continue to serve the local community.
A Post Office spokesperson confirmed this, and said: “The current Postmaster has run Cheddar Post Office since 2016 and we are pleased that he will be able to continue to provide vital services to this community.
"This existing tenant has been unaffected by the sale of the property to a new owner.”
The buyer, Gareth Reynolds, who has other commercial and residential investments, bought the property as an addition to his ongoing portfolio.
Matthew McFarlane, Business Agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale, said: “It has been a pleasure to look after the sale of this asset.
"A lovely building in central Cheddar - it presented a fabulous opportunity for a prospective commercial investor to acquire a property with two well-established tenants.
"I wish all parties the very best for the future.”
