I WAS scrolling through Facebook searching for potential stories when I saw a picture of some delicious-looking food from a place called Leather & Lace Bar & Grill.

To my delight, I discovered it was situated just outside Bridgwater in the village of Chilton Polden, so I rushed over to sample the food and drink they had on offer.

Leather & Lace Bar & Grill may look like your ordinary pub from the outside, but on the inside, it's a totally different story.Bridgwater Mercury: The view from the bar looking towards the entrance of the pub.The view from the bar looking towards the entrance of the pub. (Image: NQ Staff)

This pub clearly prides itself on being quirky, which is made immediately obvious by the American decorations and wonderfully chaotic colour scheme, and capped off by the presence of the hilarious pub parrot, who seemed to take delight in wolf-whistling at some of the guests, although much to my offense, not myself.

Behind the bar is a large array of local ciders, beers, and ales on tap, as well as soft and bottled drinks.

I ordered a half-pint of pale ale along with a half rack of baby back BBQ ribs, served with macaroni cheese, chunky chips, and coleslaw - all for £20, which I reckon is a great deal.Bridgwater Mercury: I was spoilt for choice for drinks - this picture captures only a fraction of what the pub had to offer.I was spoilt for choice for drinks - this picture captures only a fraction of what the pub had to offer. Some other items on the menu which stood out to me were the katsu curry loaded fries for £12, the six-ounce fillet steak for £26, and the Elvis burger - which is made up of a beef patty, bacon, cheese, peanut butter, and jam - for £16.

The member of staff behind the bar was very friendly, and impressively patient and accommodating towards me as foolishly I struggled to remember the pin number for my card.

I took a seat in one of the three sections of the pub, electing to sit in the corner on a small table with two incredibly comfy armchairs.Bridgwater Mercury: The pub's parrot provided some quality entertainment. The pub's parrot provided some quality entertainment. (Image: NQ Staff)

I admired the assortment of knick-knacks on display, and before I knew it, my food had arrived.

I was looking forward to the ribs most of all, and they did not disappoint, as I had no issues sliding the juicy and succulent meat off of the bone in one piece.

It tasted just as good, with the ribs cementing themselves solidly at the top of my lifetime rankings.Bridgwater Mercury: The ribs were honestly the best I've ever had.The ribs were honestly the best I've ever had. (Image: NQ Staff)

The chips were perfectly crispy and chunky, the mac and cheese was exceptionally rich and cheesy, and the coleslaw (which I usually do not bother eating) was amazing - and I savoured every mouthful.

Whilst eating my food, I noticed several customers popping in and out for afternoon tea and coffee, as the pub also serves delicious-sounding cakes and snacks.Bridgwater Mercury: The view from my comfy arm chair in the corner of the pub.The view from my comfy arm chair in the corner of the pub. Once I had finished, I regretfully got up from my table and was overcome with disappointment as I realised it was time to leave.

My time at Leather & Lace was made enjoyable by several factors, but mainly the top-notch food from the vast menu, the ever-interesting interior design, and the friendly staff who helped to give the pub a pleasant, welcoming, and relaxed atmosphere.

If you haven't already visited Leather & Lace Bar & Grill in Chilton Polden, then I strongly suggest you do so at your earliest convenience.
