THE exit road from the M5 southbound to J23 (Dunball Interchange) near Bridgwater and Highbridge will be closed this evening to allow for planned works to take place.
The closure will be in effect from 8pm today (Wednesday, February 21), until the road is reopened at 6am on Thursday, February 22.
A diversion route will be in place - as road users advised to continue travelling southbound to J24 (Huntworth Interchange) and return onto the northbound carriageway to exit at J23.
The news comes after emergency pothole repairs were carried out on the northbound carriageway today between J23 and J22 (Burnham-on-Sea).
Two lanes plus the hard shoulder were closed, and traffic was brought to a standstill.
The Dunball Roundabout has made several headlines recently, as it was announced a new Asda Express would open nearby.
A new drive-thru branch of Costa Coffee is also rumoured to open towards the end of this month, although no official date has been confirmed.
