THREE new events will come to Bridgwater in 2024 thanks to funding from Somerset Council’s Town Deal investment from the UK Government.
The most recent round of successful applicants were awarded a total of over £40,000 in grants from the scheme.
So far, the eight events that received funds have been bringing an estimated 12400 visitors to the town, and a further nine events remain in the pipeline.
At the most recent panel, three new events were agreed.
Diversity Voice have been awarded £15,595 to create a Cultural Day in Blake Gardens – Our Home will be held on Saturday, June 29, and celebrates the diversity of the local community.
A Pride event will be held on Sunday, June 30 across the town, and has been awarded £5525 to showcase 'incredible' LGBTQIA+ performers and organisations produced by Bridgwater Independent Market.
Super Saturday will arrive in Bridgwater on Saturday, July 20, taking place across the town and echoing events that happen elsewhere in the county. With their £20,000 grant, they plan to have three stages, eight performance companies and plenty more in the way of entertainment.
