The Bridgwater Town Deal was the highlight of the recent Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting (AGM).
It was held on February 22 at Cossington Park and hosted by Gavin Roberts, the chairman of the chamber.
Members celebrated the chamber's achievements of the past year, including impactful networking events and initiatives such as the Bridgwater Business Expo and the Sedgemoor Business Awards.
Top on the agenda was the ambitious growth plans for the chamber, with a goal to deliver increased representation and training opportunities for Bridgewater businesses.
Paul Moore, chair of the Bridgwater Town Deal Board, addressed the delegates about the planned 11 transformative projects funded by £23.2 million from the government.
These include the Tidal Barrier, The Celebration Mile, and the rejuvenation of the historic docks.
Bridgwater Chamber manager, Diogo Rodrigues said: "I’m thrilled about the tremendous opportunity that the £23.2 million Bridgwater Town Deal represents for our community.
"This government investment is a game-changer, and it's not just a sum on paper; it's a catalyst for transformation."
The meeting wrapped up with the whole chamber offering its thanks to Cossington Park for hosting and catering the event, as well as the members and special guest speaker in attendance.
