A NUCLEAR power station that will provide zero-carbon electricity has joined a not-for-profit Somerset organisation as a principal partner.
Hinkley Point C, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations providing electricity for around six million homes, has teamed up with Passion for Somerset.
Passion for Somerset is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company that works with individuals, communities and businesses throughout the county.
Stacy Walker, Hinkley Point C stakeholder relations manager, said: "Britain's new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C has seen another year of incredible engineering from under the seabed to the top of the world’s largest land-based crane, Big Carl.
"Every milestone takes Britain closer to net zero and stronger energy security.
"We are delighted to be partnering and supporting both Passion for Somerset and Somerset Day.
"Our partnership reflects our strong commitment to supporting our local community."
Founder of Passion for Somerset, Nigel Muers-Raby, said: "We’re absolutely delighted to welcome all involved in this ground-breaking project for Somerset and Great Britain.
"Their roots are deeply planted in Somerset and they share our desire to support Somerset’s communities, organisations and independent businesses.
"We look forward to working with them going forward".
Hinkley Point C joins other varied businesses and organisations working with Passion for Somerset, including Thatchers Cider, Somerset Larder, BBC Radio Somerset and Western Fuel.
