THREE people have been arrested during Sedgemoor Neighbourhood Policing team's "days of action" in Bridgwater earlier this month.

On Saturday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 14, officers cracked down on crime and instances of anti-social behaviour in the town.

A spokesperson from the Sedgemoor Neighbourhood Policing team said: "We’re pleased to share positive outcomes from our days of action in Bridgwater on Saturday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 14.

"12 people given Section 35 dispersal notices to leave the town centre;

"One person issued with a Community Protection Notice for begging;

"Three arrests.

"Among the arrested, one suspect was already the subject of a civil injunction in relation to their behaviour in Bridgwater town centre. After a foot chase, they were arrested for six breaches of this injunction and put before Taunton Magistrates’ Court.

"Another male was arrested for shoplifting and for assaulting an emergency worker.

"First, he threatened a shop worker after leaving the store without offering payment. He was then pursued by PCSOs, one of whom was assaulted, before being arrested by officers.

"The suspect was remanded in custody to appear before Taunton Magistrates’ Court."
