THE manager of a hotel and restaurant in Bridgwater said they “are very proud of our standards” as they celebrate a five-star hygiene rating.

The Tudor Hotel and Restaurant on St Mary’s Street was again awarded a top hygiene rating after the latest inspection.

Zoe, one of the managers, said: “We are very proud of our standards, we always try for the best.

“When we received it, we were very pleased. It’s hard work but it pays off.

“There’s quite a lot that we need to do. There’s a lot of paperwork to go with it.

“The reason why we have five starts is because we are vigilant, and that’s how we get the reputation that we have.

“It does not come easy, but it’s worth the reward.”

Zoe said she has been working as one of the managers for six years.

The Tudor is an independent, family-run business and Zoe explained how staff “even if it’s not family, they become family”.

She also added: “We have a great relationship with our customers. There are a lot of familiar faces who come here two or three times a week.”
