TWELVE talented local entertainment acts fought off tough competition during this week’s auditions to secure a front-of-curtain slot at this year’s carnival concerts.

18 hopeful acts applied to take part in the auditions (sponsored by Anderson and Wall www.anderson-wall.co.uk) at Bridgwater Town Hall, where over 40 judges assessed a five-minute performance from budding entertainers.

After two hours of auditions, the following successful acts were selected to perform at this year’s popular concerts, which take place between Monday 30 September and Saturday 12 October 2024:

  • Alana Mees (Vocalist)
  • Charlotte Crouch (Vocalist)
  • Daisy Mae Lee (Theatrical ventriloquism)
  • Dulcie Rossiter (Vocalist)
  • Elysia Harmony (Vocalist)
  • Fox King Dance Academy (Dance / Musical Theatre)

Anne Middleton, secretary, and concerts coordinator for Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, said: “Front-of-curtain acts are an essential and popular part of our carnival concerts, and the quality and calibre of those auditioning is always extremely high.

“This year has been no exception and our judges had a very difficult task in choosing the successful acts for this year’s concerts.

“We have so much talent in the town, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank every act for taking the time to apply and for auditioning.

“For those acts that didn’t make it through, we would love to see them back auditioning again next year.”

This year’s main carnival concert sponsor is FCS International Shipping Limited, a Bridgwater-based global shipping company, with the auditions being sponsored by Anderson and Wall.

Concert tickets can be purchased online at https://www.bridgwatercarnival.org.uk/carnival-concert-tickets/ or from the Carnival Centre, High Street, Bridgwater (open Monday to Friday, 09am to 1pm).

Ticket prices range from £15 to £19.50. There is a reduction in the number of tickets available for each performance this year due to Bridgwater Town Hall’s planned improved seating arrangements and a change to the accustomed seating plan.
