A ROCK from Bridgwater has been found on the East Coast of America and shared in a local Facebook group.
Caitlyn Ann, from Northern Kentucky, was on holiday in Georgia when she stumbled upon a rock painted with a St George's Cross on the Springer Mountain / Appalachian Trail Southern Terminus.
Upon closer inspection, she noticed the rock was painted with the words 'Bridgwater UK', among others, which included the name of a Facebook group called Somerset Rocks.
Caitlyn said she had found painted rocks before, but never seen one which had travelled such a distance.
"I found it while on vacation in Georgia," she said.
"I’ve found painted rocks in the past but never one from so far away.
"It was a pleasant surprise!"
Dean Anthony, proud owner of the rock, was delighted to learn it had been found.
"Wow! Thank you for the update. Much appreciated. Great news. I'm happy it's been found," he said.
The unique Facebook group encourages its members to paint and place rocks wherever they may go in order for others to discover them and join in.
