BRIDGWATER town centre has been cleaned with a pressure washer as part of new regular cleaning efforts.

Bridgwater Town Council took on several services from the financially burdened Somerset Council in a historic devolution deal last month, which included street cleaning and road-sweeping.

As part of the town council’s commitment to maintain and improve standards in Bridgwater, all of King Square, The Cornhill, Fore Street and the High Street have been cleaned using 'high pressure cleaning techniques'.

The Admiral Robert Blake statue was also washed and brushed.

Locals can now also report cleanliness issues in the town by submitting an online reporting form (office.com).

High pressure cleaning techniques will be used twice a year alongside the regular cleaning undertaken by Bridgwater Town Council Operatives to help keep the streets of Bridgwater clean.

A spokesperson for the town council said: "Look out for more improvements to these areas as Bridgwater Town Council is also replacing litter bins with dual recycling bins to help make it as easy as possible for people to recycle when out and about in Bridgwater.

"A new online form is also available to report cleanliness issues on the streets of Bridgwater to reinforce the commitment to work with the community for the community."
