A primary school in Bawdrip is the latest winner of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme.

Kingsmoor Primary Schoo received a £1,500 cheque during a sunlit May assembly, boosting essential resources.

Recently praised as the best performing primary school in Bridgwater, government figures reveal that 83 per cent of pupils achieving their expected standard and 13 per cent exceeding them in last year's SATs.

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley's sales director, Carly Spear, said: "We are delighted to be lending a helping hand to Kingsmoor Primary School through our Community Champions programme".

Ms Spear added that after hearing about the "fantastic" SAT result, it felt right to donate to the school.

Kingsmoor has served the communities of Bawdrip, Chedzoy, Bridgwater, and neighbouring villages since it first opened its doors in 1995.

Headteacher Mrs Joanne Warren said: "We are extremely grateful to Persimmon for their very kind donation".

Mrs Warren also highlighted how crucial resources for pupils at the school are.

Somerset councillor for Bridgwater East & Bawdrip, Cllr Diogo Rodrigues, said: "It is important that businesses with a significant presence in the area can help out their local communities, so Persimmon’s efforts are appreciated."

Persimmon Homes donates £700,000 annually to various UK causes.
