AN opening date has been announced for a new venue owned by a successful artist and designer, in Bridgwater.

Nathan Slate will open SL-ATE Concept Store to the public on Friday, June 14 from 11am and will welcome members of the local community to visit and find out what has been going on in the venue on Clare Street.

Nathan, who has dressed the likes of Naomi Campbell and Lady Gaga said the new space that will 'bring art and food together'.

“My plans for the venue have all been kept fairly quiet and I hope that people are now curious about what we’ll be unveiling," he said.

“What I can say at this point is that my intention is to bring together art and food in a welcoming space.

"I want to be able to showcase the best of Somerset’s artistic and culinary scene, in a venue that encourages people to savour the moment and take some time to slow down.

“We’re all guilty of running around from place to place and never slowing down to actually enjoy what we’re doing, so I hope that SL-ATE will be the place that makes it possible.”

SL-ATE Concept Store is located at 1 Clare Street, Bridgwater, and will host retail space, workshops and more.

Nathan added: “Following our launch, the business’ opening hours will be Tuesday-Saturday 11am-6pm and I look forward to welcoming people through the door to see what has been created here.

“I’d really encourage people to drop in and see what’s on offer, from art and homewares to fashion, food and fun experiences, SL-ATE will have it all under one roof!

“We also have a licence to serve alcohol and look forward to hosting workshops and private parties to anyone who may be interested.

"I also love working on new collaborations so would encourage artists looking to get involved to contact me through my website.”

It was revealed at the end of May that the designer who specialises in clothing, ceramics, fragrances and homewares had acquired the new venue in Bridgwater.

At the time, Nathan said: "Finding the perfect space to call my own was really challenging, but I’m so happy to have found my business a home in Bridgwater.

“Opening a new venue is always a bit daunting, but I trust that the community here in Bridgwater, and more broadly in Somerset, will be able to see my vision for the space here and support me in this venture as they have in my other work.”
