A NEW Community Room has opened at Bridgwater Railway Station after renovation works.
Located on platform two, the former British Rail chargehand's office has been revamped for use by local groups.
The room will be free to book and use, and can accommodate for up to 14 people, featuring kitchen, dishwashing and toilet facilities, as well as full disabled access.
Located inside a Listed building, the Community Room has maintained key features of the station's heritage, but is also up to modern standards and includes tech such as wireless internet and a large screen for presentations.

Bridgwater and District Civic Society has become the first local group to make a regular monthly booking at the new Community Room.
The committee were shown around by retired Network Rail manager David Northey, who has joined the Severnside Rail Partnership - sponsors of the Community Room - as Director with responsibilities for Bridgwater Station.
Dave Chapple, Civic Society Chair, said: "It's great that our Civic Society Committee will be the first local group to use this brilliant free facility on a regular basis.
"I hope other Bridgwater area community groups, council sub-committees, political parties, trades union branches, and local small businesses will follow us.
"I personally hope that all head teachers of our local town and village school can arrange at least one visit, to learn about our railway system and how they can use it.

"We hope that the opening of the Community Room can signal a general surge of interest in our wonderful rail station, including a new café, increased security and booking/ticket office hours, opening the footpath access to the Bridgwater & Taunton College campus, and full disabled access between the two platforms.
