BRIDGWATER'S new MP Ashley Fox recently visited the Bridgwater Foodbank to witness the service it provides to residents, first hand.
After being invited by the foodbank team, Ashley was impressed by the 'comprehensive support' offered to those in need, despite the rapidly growing demand for food assistance.
The MP said that the visit highlighted the struggles faced by many in the community due to a variety of factors, including job insecurity, ill-health, relationship breakdowns, and rising housing costs.
He feels that the foodbank plays a vital role in addressing these challenges by offering immediate relief to individuals and families struggling to feed themselves.
During the visit, Mr Fox met with staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure that the foodbank operates smoothly and efficiently.
"I am deeply moved by the dedication and compassion of everyone involved with Bridgwater Foodbank," he said.
"The demand for foodbank services is a reminder of the hardships many in our community face.
"It’s imperative that we support initiatives like this and work towards addressing the root causes of poverty and food insecurity.
"Bridgwater Foodbank not only provides immediate relief but also offers a lifeline to those looking to rebuild their lives.
"I want to thank the many volunteers who give their time freely to help others".
