WILMOT'S Pool car park on Quantock Hills is benefitting from major renovation thanks to the Friends of the Quantocks.

The charity, which celebrates its 75th year of campaigning and conservation projects, has invested in this as part of a major £40,000 contribution towards the Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme.

This National Lottery Heritage Fund five-year programme involves various works and activities in and around the Quantock Hills in Somerset.

The Friends have dedicated £20,000 specifically to the repair and restoration of this car park, alongside additional funds for broader landscape management projects.

Earlier donations financed an all-terrain Alpine tractor for maintaining previously unreachable hill areas.

John Andrews, chair of the Trustees, expressed the group's pride in their long history of partnership and support.

He said: "We are proud of our long track record in partnering and supporting the work of organisations helping to improve and preserve public access across the Quantocks.

"This latest investment will have long term benefits for everyone who enjoys being out on the hills and it’s a very fitting way to celebrate our 75th anniversary."
