A TEACHING assistant at a nursery and infants school in Bridgwater has retired after 37 years.

On Wednesday, July 24, tributes were paid to Mrs Carol Guest by staff and children at Hamp Nursery and Infant School, as they bid a 'sad farewell' to the teaching assistant.

The children said goodbye in a special assembly dedicated to Mrs Guest, followed by staff saying goodbye over an afternoon tea.

Mrs Guest said she has several happy memories from her time working at the school, and living in the local community.

She is looking forward to her retirement, and has plans to catch up with friends and keep busy with her hobbies.

"I have so many happy memories of my years spent at Hamp,  nurturing the children and watching them grow," Mrs Guest said.

"Also being involved with all the special people I have worked with.

"We work together as a family at Hamp, and being with the children and staff has been so very special to me, I will miss it every day."
